EOSA’s December Accelerator Spotlight:
Debi Lamb-Burrows, Owner and Head Storyteller of Penguin Suits
Debi Lamb-Burrows is the owner and head storyteller of Penguin Suits, and she’s also our EO San Antonio December Accelerator of the Month.
What is your favorite part about Accelerator?
My favorite part is learning new skills to manage and grow my business. The learning days show me new techniques and tools to work on my business and the accountability groups help me reinforce and put those ideas into practice. It is an effective combination.
Why would you encourage someone to join?
If you want to learn the tools on how to grow your business effectively and help put them into place to make a difference in your bottom line, EO is the group for you.
What’s the best part about owning a business?
The best part about owning my own business is making a difference in my community on my own terms.
What are some of your company’s recent accomplishments?
Penguin Suits recently graduated from the City of San Antonio’s Business Empowerment program. We have been asked to teach their marketing class as well as mentor another business in the program. Penguin Suits won our first design awards in 2014. Penguin Suits is being spotlighted in the City of San Antonio’s Annual SEBADA Report as an outstanding business. We have expanded out client base to include some much larger businesses and much larger projects.
What advice would you give to someone considering making a leap of faith into the world of entrepreneurism?
To become an entrepreneur you need to know what you do well; focus on that and get good people around you to do the rest of the tasks. By focusing on what you do well, you will grow your business with a most concentrated effort.
Other than being a business owner – if you could have any job in the world and money was irrelevant, what job would it be?
I would like to be an entertainer. I love to make people happy.
