What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
- Fearless. Not enough just to stand on the edge – you have to take a running jump off the cliff
- Things don’t often happen as planned. You have to be able to roll with change and adapt plans accordingly
- Humility. Surround yourself with great people and give them credit.
How do you generate new ideas?
Look for problems and/or opportunities to gain efficiencies for business owners. All of our marketing programs fill a need!
Name one business failure and what have you learned from it?
Just one?! The majority of my client base is in the Real Estate and Mortgage industries. A few years ago, when the Real Estate market went South, I had to downsize considerably. Two rich lessons learned: Diversify my client base and never sign a 10 year lease for too much office space.
What is your greatest business fear, and how do you manage it?
Debt. Gaining perspective from my EO forum has helped me work through this one.
How do you define success?
Over the past 13 years, I have been able to build a very successful business without having to sacrifice any time with my family. I have been able to have and do it all!
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
My 3rd year in business, I had a trade show booth at the Texas Association of Realtors convention. That year, instead of working to get people to my booth, my clients brought a consistent stream of their coworkers and did the selling for me! From that point, customer referrals have sustained my business.
What is one thing that no one knows about you?
I grew up working on a ranch. I can ride horses, rope, work the gate for sorting and branding cattle with the best of ‘em!
Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Fitness Porvida and Transition Possible for making such a big difference in people’s physical and mental health.
What is your favorite EO memory?
My forum all joined EO at the same time and trained together. As a result, we have formed a strong bond. That day of training, a little over a year ago, was the best!
