Member Spotlight: Rob Simons

What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Passion. Creativity. Curiosity.

How do you generate new ideas?
Ask questions. And when you think you’ve asked all the questions you can, ask some more.

Name one business failure and what have you learned from it?
Waiting too long to remove a bad hire. If it’s not a good fit, it’s better for both parties to move on.

What is your greatest business fear, and how do you manage it?
Boredom. I continually push myself to meet new people and try new experiences. I’m always trying to see the good in every situation.

How do you define success?
Success is based on the quality of the relationships you establish with family, friends, employees, clients, vendors and even competitors. The ultimate compliment is when you’ve earned the trust and respect of those you meet.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Seeing the positive impact Toolbox has had on the families of my employees.

What is one thing that no one knows about you?
I have a fear of getting my fingers crushed in a door.

Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most?
Any business that survives more than a year deserves admiration.

What is your favorite EO memory?

The last EO event I attended. I meet incredible people at every event. I’m addicted to travel and EO.

In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.
